The Wearable Dyson Fan: Up to 6 Hours of Coolness Anywhere
Dyson has introduced the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool Fan, its first portable fan. The device represents a compact evolution of the air management technologies developed by the British group over the past 17 years, aimed at delivering high performance in a pocket-sized form factor.
The product features an extremely lightweight design (212 grams) and a multifunctional structure that allows for use in handheld, desktop, or wearable modes through dedicated accessories. The claimed battery life reaches up to 6 hours thanks to a 5,000 mAh battery, while charging occurs via USB-C interface in about three hours.
At the core of the operation is the proprietary HushJet technology, designed to optimize air projection and reduce turbulence. The system is capable of generating a flow of up to 25 m/s, a significant figure considering the device's compact size.
The heart of the fan is a brushless DC motor capable of reaching 65,000 RPM, a solution that maintains a favorable balance between output power, energy efficiency, and dimensions. There are five speed levels available, in addition to a Boost mode designed for quick cooling scenarios.
One of the aspects that Dyson claims to have worked on the most is the sound profile. The HushJet nozzle has been designed to attenuate higher frequencies and limit the acoustic peaks typical of high-speed portable devices. The stated values are:
- 52 dBA at minimum speed
- 68 dBA at speed 5
- 72.5 dBA in Boost mode
These numbers indicate a compromise between power and acoustic comfort, especially in contexts such as offices or transport.
Dyson emphasizes the symbolic role of the 38 mm diameter, already adopted in other products from the company like the Dyson Supersonic and Dyson PencilVac. This measurement represents a design guideline aimed at miniaturization without compromising performance.
The device comes with a complete setup that includes a Neck Dock for wearable use, a charging base, USB-C cable, and a travel case. Optional accessories are also expected, such as universal mounts for mobile surfaces (like strollers) and clips for attaching to clothing or shoulder straps, expanding the usability on the go. There are three color variants available: Ink/Cobalt, Carnelian/Sky, and Stone/Blush.
Currently, no launch date or price has been announced for Italy, but it will be available in the USA from April 9 for $99.
