Gaming Monitors: Samsung Remains a Leader, Even Among OLEDs
The gaming monitor sector continues to have a leading player: Samsung. The Korean company has confirmed its leadership in the sector for the seventh consecutive year, according to data provided by IDC.
A Solid Leadership
According to IDC data, Samsung holds an 18.9% share of the global gaming monitor market in terms of revenue. The Korean company achieved this leading position in 2019 and continues to maintain it, strengthening its range with new models year after year and reaching an ever-increasing number of users.
Notably, Samsung has also positioned itself excellently in the OLED monitor segment, which is expected to see strong growth in the near future. In this case, Samsung remains a leader for the third consecutive year with a market share of up to 26%.
To strengthen its market presence, Samsung continues to focus on new technologies to integrate into its range, such as 3D glasses-free, introduced with the new 27" Odyssey 3D (model G90XF), and gaming in HDR10+.
Among the recent innovations in the range, we highlight the new 27" Odyssey G6 (model G60H), the world's first gaming monitor capable of reaching a maximum refresh rate of 1,040 Hz, alongside the 32" Odyssey G8 (model G80HS), the first 6K monitor in the sector.
Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics, commented: "As the number one gaming monitor brand, our goal is to continue leading the market with distinctive innovation. Strong collaborations with development studios guide us in innovation, while a clear technology roadmap keeps us focused. By expanding our game library and increasing compatibility with platforms, we offer monitors that guarantee optimal performance in the most crucial moments for gamers."
