Zeekr X and 7X Tested: Prices, Range Up to 615 km and Charging in 13 Minutes

It’s called Zeekr, the contemporary luxury brand of the Geely Holding Group, the same group behind Volvo, Polestar, Smart, and Lotus, and starting from mid-April, it will be possible to purchase it in Italy. This is not just another Chinese brand seeking visibility with cut-rate prices: Zeekr plays a different game, positioning itself in the premium segment with reference technologies and a design developed at the Global Design Center in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is the same address as Volvo’s tradition, and it shows.

The brand was born in 2021, is listed on the NYSE, and in just four years has delivered over 700,000 vehicles globally. Rapid growth made possible by direct access to Geely’s supply chain, which is one of the most advanced and vertically integrated in the world in the EV sector. In Italy, the entrance occurs through a partnership with Jameel Motors Italia, part of the Abdul Latif Jameel Group: one of the most important independent operators in automotive distribution worldwide, present in over 10 countries across the Middle East, Europe, Japan, and Australia.

The range expected for the Italian market consists of three models: Zeekr X (compact C-segment SUV), Zeekr 7X (mid-size D-segment SUV), and Zeekr 001 (electric shooting brake grand tourer). All three are built on the same SEA platform, which stands for Sustainable Experience Architecture, developed in Gothenburg with engineering roots in the acquisition of Volvo and Saab's heritage. The SEA platform supports architectures at 400 and 800 volts, with versions up to 1,000 volts already available in China. In Europe, the Zeekr models operate on the 400-volt variant for the X and on 800 volts for the 7X, which is currently the absolute top of the range for charging speed and powertrain performance.

Starting with the Zeekr X

The Zeekr X measures 4,432 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm: proportions designed for the city without sacrificing internal habitability. The most significant achievement in its track record is the Best in Class Euro NCAP 2024 title, obtained both in the Small SUV category and as the best full electric vehicle in its class, with scores between 88% and 91% for adult and child protection.

The flagship version is the Privilege AWD with a dual motor: 315 kW (428 HP), all-wheel drive and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The Long Range version with rear-wheel drive reaches a WLTP autonomy of 446 km with a 69 kWh battery. Fast DC charging brings the battery from 10 to 80% in about 29 minutes thanks to compatibility with charging stations up to 150 kW. It also features V2L (vehicle-to-load) support for powering external devices.

The cockpit is managed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip with 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, featuring a central display of 14.6 inches, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, and a head-up display. The ADAS system relies on a configuration of 5 cameras, 5 millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Standard on all trims are the fixed glass panoramic roof, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and OTA updates. The starting list price is 39,900 euros.

Zeekr 7X: 800 Volts, 615 km Range and Charging in 13 Minutes

The Zeekr 7X is the newest model in the European lineup - initial deliveries in Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands began in 2025 - and it brings with it the most advanced technology in the Zeekr portfolio. Measuring 4,787 mm in length and with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, it competes directly with the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Tesla Model Y. The trunk is 539 liters, plus a front trunk of 66 liters.

The platform is at 800 volts across all variants, with DC fast charging peak power of up to 480 kW. This translates to a cycle from 10 to 80% in just 13 minutes in the Core RWD version (75 kWh battery), and 16 minutes in the Long Range and Privilege AWD versions (100 kWh battery). The batteries are developed in-house with support from CATL and are named Golden Battery Gen 2: the advanced thermal management system ensures longevity and consistent performance over time.

The Long Range RWD variant is the one with the maximum range: up to 615 km WLTP with a single motor of 310 kW (421 HP). The Privilege AWD features two motors for a total of 475 kW (646 HP) and 710 Nm of torque, covering 0-100 in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 210 km/h. The Long Range version offers 5 driving modes, while the Privilege version has 6 (including off-road mode), with active pneumatic suspensions and continuous dampening control.

The digital brain is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295, Qualcomm's most advanced automotive platform, with integrated AI and the Zeekr GPT voice assistant. The central display is a 16-inch mini-LED panel with 3.5K resolution, alongside a 13-inch HD cluster. For the future, Zeekr has already announced the transition to the Nvidia Thor platform for the next generations. The glass panoramic roof with motorized curtain is standard on all trims.

Among the most interesting features is the pet mode: it keeps the vehicle's climate control active even with the engine off, with temperature adjustable remotely via app. This solution is designed for those traveling with pets who do not want to leave them alone without thermal control. From the app, it is also possible to manage the vehicle's open/close functions, battery monitoring, route planning, and sharing the digital key with other users.

The doors open from the inside with traditional mechanical handles, a deliberate choice that ensures accessibility in any condition, including emergencies. The safety structure is called the Safety Cocoon: a shell architecture designed to absorb and redistribute impact energies, protecting the living cell.

Network, Deliveries, and Prices in Italy

Zeekr's entrance into Italy does not start from scratch: distribution relies on the existing network of Geely Italy, with 52 sales points across the territory and 60 experience centers dedicated to technical assistance. The first deliveries are expected by mid-April 2026.

The list prices for the Italian market are as follows: Zeekr X from 39,900 euros, Zeekr 7X from 54,100 euros, and Zeekr 001 from 61,100 euros. Three proposals that cover different segments and position Zeekr as a serious challenge to established premium brands in the European EV market.
