Zeekr 007 GT Sold Out in China, Moving to 900 Volt Platform Version
Zeekr is gradually entering the European market, but in the meantime, it is working at full speed in China, where its vehicles are certainly much more known. As part of the Geely Group, the brand has access to all the best technologies, and indeed, there are significant new developments from this perspective.
According to revelations from the IThome portal, the Zeekr 007 GT (also known as the 7 GT) is sold out in China, but not due to the end of its career or production delays. Zeekr has halted production to make room for the new version.
As hinted at by rumors last January, both the GT and the sedan are about to get the new platform that raises the operating voltage (already at 800 volts) even higher, to 900 volts. Besides this change, new improved Nvidia Drive Thor-U chips with performance better than the current series (which already had 700 TOPS) will also be included, benefiting advanced driver assistance systems.
The sedan is expected to feature slight stylistic changes, while the modifications for the 007 GT will be limited, maintaining a length of 4.85 meters and a wheelbase of 2,925 mm. As for the powertrains, there will be a single motor configuration with 370 kW of power, or a dual motor, AWD configuration, adding another front unit of 215 kW.
This technical transition, just a few months after the launch of the 800-volt version, showcases a China that is speeding ahead in development, and the increase in voltage goes hand in hand with faster charging speeds, an aspect that all manufacturers are focusing on heavily. For context, the Zeekr at 800 volts, and soon even better with 900 volts, can charge from 10% to 80% in a time frame of between 10 and 13 minutes.
