TIM Launches Priority, Connection Improves for Those Who Pay More

TIM has announced the launch of Priority, defined as "a new generation of services for those who want more from their connection." Customers of the operator, through a dedicated option, will be able to obtain superior performance along with dedicated assistance and protection. The new service from TIM starts immediately with fiber optics, costing 5 euros per month, but will also be available next month in October for 5G connections. As for priority access to the network, this is a particularly delicate issue that may have to contend with the concept of net neutrality.

How TIM's Priority Works

The first information about how Priority works has been provided directly by the operator. According to TIM, the network will be able to recognize Priority customers, reserving them "priority traffic management" to ensure a "higher quality". The operator defines it as "a digital fast lane." The first application is WiFi Priority, accessible to customers with fiber optic connections who will benefit from prioritized data traffic in download, faster response times, and a more consistent flow, particularly advantageous when multiple people and devices are using the network simultaneously.

Starting next month in October, there will be Priority connectivity for the 5G mobile network. The service has already been tested on various occasions and aims to ensure a fast connection even during high traffic concentration, such as in stadiums, during concerts, or large events. In the future, Priority care will also be introduced to expedite activation and support, along with Priority protection, featuring functionalities dedicated to digital security.
