NVIDIA Jetson, the new prices are outrageous: increased abruptly by up to 101%

NVIDIA has silently updated the U.S. price list for the Jetson range, increasing the prices of all developer kits currently in the catalog and every production module still present in the U.S. price table. The changes appeared on the company's U.S. store and in the FAQ section dedicated to Jetson on July 21, having been discovered by a reader of VideoCardz who immediately shared the changes.

The most noticeable change concerns the Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, which goes from $249 to $399, an increase of 60%. Other development kits also register significant increases: the Jetson AGX Orin Developer Kit rises from $1,999 to $3,499 (+75%), while the Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit reaches $5,499, up from the previous $3,499 (+57%). Currently, all three developer kits are marked as sold out on NVIDIA's U.S. marketplace.

The heaviest increases affect some modules from the previous generation. The Jetson Nano and the Jetson AGX Orin 32GB have seen prices practically double, with increases close to 100%. The Jetson AGX Orin 64GB also records a significant increase of 88%. The Xavier Industrial and Xavier NX 16GB modules rise by 84% and 80%, respectively.

NVIDIA has not provided official explanations for the reasons behind these price hikes or communicated the exact date when the new prices will take effect. Among the most plausible hypotheses is clearly the increase in memory costs, which may have led to the price list update.

The Jetson range represents a key platform for artificial intelligence, robotics, and embedded systems applications, which is why these price increases could have a direct impact on developers, companies, and system providers using such modules in their projects.
