NVIDIA App 11.0.8: ShadowPlay Now Records Up to 240 FPS on GeForce RTX 4000 and 5000

NVIDIA has released version 11.0.8 of NVIDIA App, a release that introduces one of the most requested features by users utilizing ShadowPlay to record gameplay and video content. With this update, recording can now reach 240 frames per second, a feature that was previously available exclusively in the beta version of the application.

This new capability is reserved for the GeForce RTX 4000 (Ada Lovelace) and GeForce RTX 5000 (Blackwell) graphics cards, thanks to the NVENC hardware encoders integrated into the GPUs. The aim is to provide competitive gamers and content creators the ability to capture footage at extremely high smoothness, maintaining high quality even during the slow motion of images in the editing phase.

Actual performance depends on the hardware configuration of the graphics card. Models equipped with two or three NVENC encoders can record 4K (UHD) video at 240 FPS, while GPUs with a single encoder are limited to recording 1440p at 240 FPS. Compatible desktop cards for UHD recording include GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 4070 Ti Super, RTX 4080, RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4090, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090, as well as their respective notebook versions that have at least two NVENC encoders.

The new mode can be activated through the ShadowPlay overlay, which can be accessed with the shortcut Alt+Z. Within the video capture settings, the new 240 FPS value is now available in the frame rate dedicated menu.

The update also introduces some new features for multi-monitor configurations. NVIDIA has integrated new options in the control panel that allow the Windows taskbar to be limited to a single display and windows to be maximized across multiple screens simultaneously. The settings can be accessed via System > Displays > Surround.

Version 11.0.8 also expands support for the DLSS Override feature, allowing the use of newer versions of DLSS technology even in games that originally support earlier releases. The list of compatible titles has grown by 17 games, including productions like PRAGMATA, Sudden Strike 5, INDUSTRIA 2, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, Twinmotion, Neverness to Everness, Windrose, and others.

At the same time, NVIDIA has added profiles that ensure optimized settings in an additional 11 games, allowing the application to automatically configure graphic parameters based on the installed hardware. Among the affected titles are Crimson Desert, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Marathon, Resident Evil Requiem, Nioh 3, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, and PRAGMATA.

On the correction front, NVIDIA has fixed an issue that prevented ShadowPlay from correctly recording games whose titles contained special characters. The release notes also mention various interventions aimed at improving the overall stability and reliability of the NVIDIA App.
