xAI has filed a lawsuit against a Grok user for using AI to create sexual deepfakes
SpaceXAI
(Note previously known as xAI) has initiated a lawsuit against a 67-year-old American citizen accused of using Grok for generating sexualized images without the consent of the individuals involved.
The man in question had previously been arrested in recent months as part of an operation related to cyber crimes against minors. It is worth noting that Grok's ability to generate sexualized images has been heavily restricted.
Details of the Case
According to xAI's account, the man allegedly uploaded non-sexual images of numerous adults and minors to his two xAI accounts from December 8, 2025, to February 18, 2026. Subsequently, he reportedly requested the creation of images based on the uploaded files, in a manner that was "pornographic or otherwise sexualizing them."
According to the company, Grok refused to follow the instructions on "numerous occasions." As clarified by Reuters, the lawsuit initiated by xAI is one of the first legal actions taken by an AI company against one of its users.
The man reported by the company has already been arrested last March as part of an operation related to cyber crimes against minors and faces several charges, in addition to the complaint from xAI seeking damages for harm suffered (though the amount is not known).
The issue is highly relevant, and xAI may initiate further legal actions to protect its position and seek damages against other individuals as well. More details are expected to emerge shortly.
