Marvel's Wolverine Revealed in a New Trailer: Tokyo, Lady Deathstrike, and Logan's Fury in the Spotlight
Insomniac Games has released a new trailer for Marvel's Wolverine, providing an in-depth look at the gameplay of the much-anticipated title dedicated to Logan. The footage, shown during the latest State of Play event, highlights both the combat mechanics and some plot elements that will accompany the protagonist throughout his adventure.
The game presents a version of Wolverine grappling with an increasingly intense inner conflict. Logan strives to preserve what remains of his humanity, but his aggressive nature continues to emerge at the most critical moments. This characteristic directly reflects in the combat system, showcasing extremely violent confrontations where the mutant eliminates enemies utilizing his claws with a brutality that represents one of the central aspects of the experience.
Throughout the story, Logan embarks on a journey that takes him to various parts of the world with the aim of saving certain mutants who have fallen into the hands of Bolivar Trask and the Reavers. Although it is a linear adventure, the path includes diverse settings, including a stop in Tokyo.
What emerges from the new trailer for Marvel's Wolverine? In the Japanese city, Wolverine must confront numerous highly trained ninjas, but the most significant clash is with Yuriko Oyama, better known as Lady Deathstrike. During the encounter, the woman manages to take Logan down and make him lose a photograph of Jean Grey, an object of great personal value that could be linked to the time spent in Team X or another significant moment from his past.
The loss of the photograph triggers the famous Berserker Rage, the state in which Wolverine loses control and fights with even greater ferocity. The trailer clearly showcases this transformation, highlighting a level of violence superior to previous phases.
Among the most interesting sequences, Sabretooth, Wolverine's historic rival, also makes an appearance. In this interpretation, however, the character fights alongside Logan and participates in some missions with him, turning confrontations into a sort of competition to eliminate as many opponents as possible. Marvel's Wolverine will be available exclusively for PlayStation 5 starting September 15.
