Is GTA 6 too cheap? Some say it should cost 200 euros

GTA 6 is, without a doubt, the most anticipated game in the coming months. The game has been available for pre-order for a few weeks at a price of 79.99 euros or 99.99 euros for the Ultimate Edition. These prices are lower than some estimates. In recent months, various scenarios had been outlined that saw the game's arrival with a price of at least 10-20 euros more than what was announced by Rockstar Games.

During an interview, market analyst Ben Thompson, founder of Stratechery, threw out a real provocation, aimed at sparking reflection. GTA 6 could be too cheap, and a game like this should cost "200 dollars" considering that it can be defined as "the last great pre-AI game", in a future scenario that may be characterized by titles developed with significant contributions from AI.

The issue of GTA 6's price is undoubtedly interesting. Rockstar Games has certainly evaluated the matter very carefully, but still chose not to raise the list price, likely aiming to maximize the number of copies sold at launch and trying to monetize later with digital content.

Let’s remember that the game will be released on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. In the future, a PC version is also expected, which could guarantee an additional revenue boost for the title, even without proposing a higher price than that set for the console versions.
