Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Utilize All the Potential of PS5 Pro; A New Dynamic Map is Coming
Activision and Infinity Ward have presented new details regarding the PlayStation 5 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, confirming that the title will support both PS5 and PS5 Pro right from the start, with specific features designed to leverage the capabilities of the two consoles. At the same time, Kill Block, a new multiplayer map characterized by a modular structure capable of changing between matches, was announced.
Regarding the PS5 version, the game will offer support for the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the DualSense controller, in addition to compatibility with 3D audio, HDR, and a resolution that can go up to 4K. The 120 Hz mode with unlocked frame rates and support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), already present in previous chapters of the series, will also remain available. The developers have also confirmed the Energy Saving mode, which reduces console power consumption while limiting performance.
On PS5 Pro, however, Modern Warfare 4 will introduce dedicated enhancements. The title will utilize PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) in an enhanced version, allowing for superior image quality at both 60 and 120 frames per second. Additionally, when VRR and the 120 Hz mode are activated simultaneously, players will benefit from an unlocked frame rate.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Technical Innovations and the New Map
The technical innovations were accompanied by the presentation of Kill Block, a new multiplayer setting designed to offer a different experience with every match. The map is set within the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, a highly secure military facility designed as a training camp.
The distinguishing feature of the map is three huge steel modules called Slab. These structures slide along a rail system using industrial engines, continuously altering the layout of the play area. The result is an environment that can assume over 500 different configurations, changing sightlines, pathways, and strategic points from one encounter to the next.
Kill Block has been primarily designed for close-quarters combat and will support the 3v3 Showdown mode and the new 10v10 Showdown mode at launch, which extends Gunfight rules to twenty participants. Activision has also confirmed that additional classic modes and objective-based modes will be added with updates following the launch. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be available from October 23 on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
