Steam has just closed a very positive semester with record revenues (+14.5%)
The project of the Steam Machine, for the moment, has not had the expected effects from Valve, which has to deal with the memory crisis. Meanwhile, however, the Steam store continues to register record numbers in terms of revenues. A new report indeed confirms that the store has just closed the best semester in its history.
A Record Semester
The first semester of 2026 closed with $11.1 billion in gross revenues for the Steam store. This is the best result ever achieved by Valve's online store. Compared to last year, revenues have increased by 14.5%, while compared to the second semester of 2025 there has been an 8% increase in revenues.
According to the report, in the first semester of 2026 Steam recorded revenues higher than those of the entire 2020, a year in which video game sales significantly increased due to the pandemic.
It is also interesting to note the smaller weight of new releases on total revenue. In 2026, new games accounted for 21% of earnings, while in 2024 (also considering the first semester) this share was 29%.
The most successful game on Steam, in terms of revenue, was Forza Horizon 6, with approximately €173 million earned. It was followed by Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert.
The data from the report has not been officially confirmed by Valve, but it still represents a confirmation regarding the growth of the store, which continues to record strong revenue growth.
