Italians Are Interested in Home Security, but Subscription Solutions Are Unconvincing

Thanks to various tech accessories, it is possible to improve home security by resorting to surveillance systems and connected services. The new study Home Security Consumer Index, commissioned by Reolink, clarifies the European trends in the home security sector, with particular attention to privacy.

What Italians Think About Home Security

From the data emerging from the study, Italy shows a particular interest in home security solutions. Italian users confirm a positive attitude towards home video surveillance solutions, with 66.72% rating them favorably (24.36% "very positive" and 42.36% "positive"). This is the highest value among the countries involved in the survey (conducted with the input of over 6,000 consumers in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and Poland).

Italian users are also the most inclined to purchase, with 76.2% of respondents leaning towards buying within 12 months (28.03% "yes, definitely" and 48.17% "probably yes"). Various factors drive the purchase: 30.02% indicate privacy protection as the most important factor, followed by control over recordings (26.59%) and protection against cyber attacks (25.32%).

It's worth noting a certain skepticism towards subscriptions: 25% of respondents have a negative stance, while another 25% declare themselves "neutral" on the topic. To address concerns related to cloud data management, privacy, and the necessity of a subscription, Reolink has expanded its product range increasingly focusing on local storage without the use of subscriptions.

The company offers the Reolink Home Hub series, which includes the Home Hub, Home Hub Pro, and Home Hub Mini models. This series allows the use of Home Hub as a centralized platform for storage, with a capacity of up to 16 TB. To ensure data security, it features AES-128 encryption.
