Huawei to Produce Next-Generation Chips for Future Computers with HarmonyOS
Among Huawei's future goals is also the expansion into the PC market, with a dedicated version of HarmonyOS and the aim to become an important reference point, especially in China. To achieve these objectives, it is necessary to have the right hardware components, starting from the chip. It is worth noting that Huawei has already unveiled some future plans for the PC segment. The aim is to capture the market (starting from China) with a range that is set to be enriched with many innovations over the next few years.
Huawei Targets the Computer Segment
According to a new leak, Huawei is working on a series of next-generation Kirin chips dedicated to the computer sector, and thus, without the strict efficiency constraints that characterize chips for smartphones and tablets. For now, information is very limited, but the company's goal would be to launch the new products as early as September.
The new range of Huawei chips for desktop computers is expected to be an evolution of the Kirin X90, featuring 10-12 core CPUs with much higher frequencies than those used in smartphones. The actual performance of the chip will need to be assessed in the field, but the company aims to achieve a good level of performance even with the first generation of chips.
For the future, Huawei has very ambitious goals and aims to carve out a significant space in the market. Starting with a fast and reliable chip is a fundamental step. We will see what the company’s plans will be.
