Samsung Might Abandon the Flip Series: Will Foldables Be Only Fold?
Samsung has just confirmed the official date of the new Galaxy Unpacked event that will debut the new models of the Galaxy Z series. Among these will also be the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which, according to a new leak, might be the last of the series. The Korean company may focus solely on Fold models for the future of the Galaxy Z line, due to greater profit margins.
Samsung Will Focus on Folds
Unless there is an (unlikely) commercial success, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be the last model of the Flip series. Samsung, following the lead of various Chinese brands, will focus on the Fold series. Currently, among the main OEMs, only Motorola (in addition to Samsung) continues to invest in flip phones. Naturally, there is nothing official, and Samsung could always change its mind.
The Market's Response
The market's response to the new Galaxy Z Flip 8 will likely be decisive. With rising prices due to the memory crisis, the Korean company must evaluate very carefully which projects to pursue. For now, the Flip series is the most at risk, while the Fold will continue to be a central element of Samsung's smartphone range. More details will come in the following weeks.
Let’s remember that the Unpacked event, which will introduce the new Galaxy Z devices, is scheduled for July 22, with the new products expected to debut in the market during the first days of August, at least according to some rumors that have anticipated the launch timings of the models.
