Fallout Season 2: 10 Nominations at the Emmy Awards, but the Absence of Walton Goggins Sparks Debate

Even the second season of Fallout is flying to the Emmy Awards, although in a less explosive manner than the first. The show produced by Amazon has indeed received ten nominations at the Emmy Awards – compared to 17 nominations for the first season – a result that confirms the appreciation received by the production inspired by the eponymous video game saga. However, this time the nominations mostly focus on the technical aspects of the production.

The nominations pertain to set design, costumes, makeup, sound, and stunt coordination, elements that contributed to defining the identity of the second season. However, there were no nominations in the categories dedicated to performers, a choice that has attracted the attention of part of the audience.

Among the most commented absences is obviously that of Walton Goggins, who plays the Ghoul. His performance in the second season had received numerous accolades from viewers, which is why the lack of a nomination immediately raised controversy among fans of the series. In fact, we must acknowledge that Goggins' performance in this second season seemed to be even deeper and more nuanced than what he did in the first.

In any case, the future of the television adaptation looks quite bright. Production of the third season has already begun, and Walton Goggins himself recently posted an image of him once again in the role of the Ghoul, effectively confirming the character's return in the new episodes.

However, at the moment it is the video game branch of the franchise that is rekindling the flames of hype. In recent hours, some sources have reported that a new chapter of the series is in development with the involvement of Obsidian, which reportedly has shelved Avowed 2 following a 25% reduction in staff.

Within Fallout, Obsidian Entertainment is known to fans for one of the most appreciated chapters of the entire saga. We are of course talking about Fallout New Vegas, the only project in which the team has been involved and which also inspired the second season of the TV series. New Vegas stands out from other Fallout games not only for its setting but also and especially for its writing.

The game, in fact, is profoundly influenced by player choices, much more so than what happens in other installments, and almost all missions offer two alternative endings. Furthermore, the gameplay offers structure and mechanics much closer to a pure role-playing game than to an action one.

Currently, in the absence of any confirmation, it is unclear whether Obsidian is working on a sequel, possibly Fallout 5, or a new spinoff. In any case, if the rumors were confirmed, it would almost certainly be an interesting project that could make fans happy who still spend hours roaming the streets of New Vegas.
