Bentley unveils its first electric SUV named Torcal: the debut will happen in September
Bentley has officially revealed the name of its first fully electric vehicle: it will be called Torcal and will make its world debut on September 23 in London. This model represents the brand's first step towards a range without combustion engines, although the initial plan to become a fully electric brand by 2030 is no longer valid.
Until now, the vehicle was internally known as "Urban SUV", a name that suggested more compact dimensions compared to the Bentayga. In reality, while it is smaller than the current SUV from the British brand, the Torcal will maintain generous proportions, consistent with the brand's identity. The chosen name follows Bentley's tradition of drawing inspiration from geographical and natural locations, as already seen with Bentayga, Bacalar, and Batur. In this case, the reference is to El Torcal de Antequera, a natural area located in Andalusia, Spain.
The first teaser images offer few details, but some adjustments to the exposure allow for glimpses of clearer stylistic elements. The design is expected to draw from some solutions seen in the concept EXP 15, although adapted to a more traditional SUV configuration. The prototype showed particular features like asymmetric doors, but the production version should adopt a more conventional four-door structure, along with a rear hatch visible in the images.

Additional details on Torcal, Bentley's new electric SUV
Camouflaged versions spotted during testing at Nürburgring confirm a more classic and squared SUV setup, although with modern details that will differentiate it from the Bentayga. The latter has been on the market for over ten years and originates from an even older project. Thus, the Torcal will have a more contemporary design language and be fully electric, with no internal combustion variant.
From a technical standpoint, the model is expected to share the PPE platform from the Volkswagen Group with the Porsche Cayenne Electric. This means powers that can exceed 1,100 horsepower, high torque, a 113 kWh battery, and high-speed charging up to 400 kW.
Expected performance includes very rapid acceleration, with a 0-100 km/h time of about 2.5 seconds in the more powerful versions. The Torcal thus represents a key step for Bentley towards electrification.
