Nothing: End of Support for Phone (1) with a Final Update and Farewell Message

With the start of July and a final update, Nothing has discontinued support for its first smartphone, the iconic Nothing Phone (1), the product introduced in 2022 that allowed the brand to make its mark on the market, leading to the creation of a new generation of devices.

Farewell from Nothing

The company has published the following message to confirm the end of support for Phone (1) and to celebrate the role the device has played for the brand:

Phone (1) is the starting point of Nothing OS. It introduced our first ideas for a cleaner and more focused smartphone experience, from the Glyph interface and dot-matrix design language to a more focused approach to Android. Over the years, Phone (1) has grown alongside Nothing OS and has helped shape the software experience that we continue to develop today. Although this marks the end of its software lifecycle, the device remains perfectly usable and an important part of Nothing's history.

Support for the device ends with a final software update that does not add new features but simply incorporates the security patches for July 2026, adding fixes for some bugs.

It's worth noting that the Nothing Phone (1) was launched with Android 12 and, as per the brand's support policies, received its last major update in 2025, with the arrival of Android 15. There will be no further operating system versions for this smartphone.

At the moment, Nothing has no plans for an update to its main series with the latest model released being Phone (3). The company has, however, launched the Phone (4a) series and is preparing the (4b).

For a new flagship, we will have to wait until next year.
