Isaac 1 for Sale This Autumn, a True Robot Capable of Handling (Almost) All Household Chores
The concept of a multifunctional domestic robot is now a reality. Weave Robotics has announced Isaac 1, the evolution of Isaac 0 and the definitive model intended to enter the mass market, with the goal of automating numerous daily activities within homes. The device is already available for pre-order at a price of $7,999, while those who prefer an alternative option can choose a subscription for $449 per month.
The new model is not just an aesthetic update. Isaac 1 indeed introduces a mobile platform capable of autonomously moving within domestic environments, a feature absent in the previous generation. The robot can adjust its height from 91.44 to 175.26 centimeters depending on the task at hand and integrates two telescopic arms, a foldable and extendable torso, and a soft and removable fabric cover.
From an operational standpoint, Isaac 1 performs tasks such as collecting dirty clothes, managing laundry baskets, folding garments, and tidying them up. A mode called Laundry Flow automates the entire laundry process, while Daily Reset allows the robot to make beds, arrange cushions and blankets, and put toys, shoes, and other items back in order.
According to Weave, the robot performs these activities autonomously in most situations. When it encounters more complex scenarios, however, it can request support from a remote operator who intervenes through images collected by integrated cameras to complete the assigned task. This feature is designed to ensure the execution of operations, although it has raised privacy concerns among the more cautious, as the robot would provide access to real-time images of the home.
On this front, the company emphasizes that the camera-eyes remain closed when the robot is not in operation. Weave also states that personal data is used to improve and update services but has not clarified whether information collected within homes is saved and used for system training.
The technical specifications include a wheeled base, WiFi connectivity, control through a dedicated application, and the ability to schedule operating times. The claimed autonomy reaches 8 hours, while a full charge takes about 2 hours. The base measures 52.07 x 55.88 centimeters, while the robot offers a vertical reach of 203.2 centimeters and a horizontal reach of 96.52 centimeters. The structure has 2 degrees of freedom for the neck, 6 for each arm, 1 for each hand, 2 for the torso, and 3 for the mobile base.
Weave has also confirmed a plan for firmware updates that will gradually expand the robot's capabilities. The objective is to increase the number of tasks it can perform and improve the level of autonomy over time.
Isaac 1 comes in five colors: Sage, Gray, Slate Blue, Terracotta, and Vesper. The first deliveries are set to begin next autumn with initial availability limited to California. Throughout 2027, commercialization will extend to the rest of the United States.
The price of Isaac 1 is lower than other domestic robots announced in the market, a feature that has inevitably increased interest in the project. The announcement has garnered millions of views on social media and has fueled the debate on the potential of robots dedicated to household tasks, although questions remain regarding full operational autonomy and the management of data collected within homes.
