The adoption of Windows 11 continues to grow among Steam users
Windows 11 is making its way among Steam users. The June 2026 edition of the Steam Hardware & Software Survey confirms the trend highlighted last month. Microsoft's operating system is increasingly widespread among users of Valve's platform. Here are the key data that clarify the growth of Windows 11.
Surpassing 70%
The June survey data highlights a new milestone for Windows 11. The operating system has reached a share of 70.44% among Steam users, with a growth of 0.68 points compared to the previous month. This figure can be interpreted in various ways and, in any case, represents a confirmation of the reference role of Windows 11 in the gaming sector.
The growth of Windows 11 is accompanied by a decline in Windows 10, which, however, continues to hold a considerable share. The previous version of Microsoft's operating system has a share of 23.56%, with a decline of 0.43 points compared to the previous month. It is worth noting that 0.07% of users are still using Windows 7.
As for the other operating systems, Linux is declining and stands at 3.69%, with Steam OS Holo being the most used version, representing 0.84% of the total. This is a new decline for Linux, as it had fallen below 4% among Steam users in May. Further behind is macOS, which stands at 2.21%.
Let’s remember that the results of the June survey are available online with the possibility to check the users' choices also from a hardware perspective.
