The Elder Scrolls VI: development continues, but time is needed to create a quality product

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced in 2018 and is still far from its debut. This is a very delicate issue also because Xbox is reorganizing its business, with several studios at risk of closure, and needs games that can capture the attention of the public.

Long development times, however, would be necessary to meet the required quality standards. The confirmation came from Bruce Nesmith, a veteran of Bethesda Game Studios and lead designer of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, who clarified the issue during an interview.

Let's remember that, according to the latest rumors, development is going well and that the game will use the Creation Engine 3 graphics engine.

Time is Needed for a Quality Product

The development of a video game is based on three pillars: the quality to be achieved, the available resources, and the development time. By choosing two of these three pillars, it is possible to define the third. Consequently, to maintain high quality with the current resources, The Elder Scrolls VI needs long development times.

In this scenario, the perspective of Xbox management must also be considered, as they would like to see a quicker release of the games from the most important series, such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. However, this demand seriously risks deteriorating the quality of the games. The options, in fact, are two: increase the available resources or cut features, with the risk of worsening the final product. For now, the team will take all the time necessary to complete the development of The Elder Scrolls VI.
