Review of OPPO Enco Air5 Pro: the perfect balance between audio quality, ANC, and price
A few days ago, the new OPPO Enco Air5 Pro hit the Italian market. We’re talking about TWS headphones that integrate specifications usually reserved for higher-end devices, such as support for the LHDC 5.0 codec and a noise cancellation (ANC) of 55dB. But did they convince us overall? In this review, we will analyze whether these promises hold true in everyday use.
Design and Ergonomics
OPPO's approach to design has always distinguished itself through great care in balancing aesthetics and functionality. The OPPO Enco Air5 Pro are no exception. Weighing just 4.4 grams per earbud, they rank among the lightest options in the category. Ergonomics have been optimized through an engineering process that involved analyzing thousands of ear scans. The result is a chassis that, once inserted, does not require constant adjustments. During our testing sessions, we wore the Enco Air5 Pro for work sessions in the newsroom and also for some travel and gym testing. The absence of bothersome pressure in the ear canal is a testament to the work done on the earbud angle.
The charging case deserves a separate mention. Often overlooked, in this case, it is an integral part of the user experience. The matte finish (Matte Black in our sample) not only offers a good grip but also effectively masks fingerprints. The hinge is solid, with a magnetic feedback that conveys a sense of durability over time. The IP55 certification adds an extra degree of protection, making the device resistant to light rain and intense sweat, a must for anyone leading a dynamic life between work and gym.
Audio Quality
The heart of the OPPO Enco Air5 Pro is a 12mm dynamic driver with a titanium coating. This technical choice is not purely aesthetic or marketing. Specifically, titanium offers structural rigidity that allows the driver to respond more swiftly to transients—the sudden changes in dynamics in a musical piece—reducing harmonic distortion even at high volumes. In our tests with high-fidelity audio tracks (FLAC 24-bit/96kHz), the Enco Air5 Pro impressed with the clarity of the mid-high range. Often, earbuds in this price range tend to excessively emphasize bass. In contrast, OPPO has opted for a more mature approach. Thanks to the LHDC 5.0 codec and support for Hi-Res Audio Wireless, the transmitted bitrate is significantly higher than the standard SBC or AAC, allowing the audio signal to maintain a harmonic richness that would otherwise be lost.
The HeyMelody app allows access to the Sound Master equalizer. We spent quite some time testing the three preset profiles. The “Maximum Sound” profile turned out to be the most versatile, offering a flat and natural response. “Thumping Bass” smartly enhances the low frequencies: it doesn't just raise the volume but adds depth, ideal for listening to electronic music in noisy contexts. “Pure Vocal Sound”, on the other hand, is perfect for podcasts, improving speech intelligibility without making the voice sound nasal.
Noise Cancellation and Calls
The ANC system utilizes a three-microphone setup on each earbud. The noise reduction capability reaches 55dB across an ultra-wide band of 5000Hz. This figure is excellent for this category: it means that not only are low-frequency sounds—such as engine rumble or subway noise—suppressed, but also higher frequencies that characterize human voices in an open space office.
In practice, we used the headphones in a crowded subway and in various chaotic outdoor areas. The isolation was nearly impeccable: once activated, the noise from the train was reduced to a slight background rustle, allowing us to listen to music at low volumes without having to increase the volume to cover external chaos.
The calling capabilities are equally advanced. The Triple-Mic AI Clear Call technology employs a machine learning algorithm to distinguish the user's voice from background noise. We tested call quality while walking down a busy street and even while cycling. Wind noise suppression is effective: the voice comes through clearly on the other end without the typical distortions caused by microphone clipping.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life is another important point. With 54 hours in total guaranteed by the case (with ANC turned off), the Enco Air5 Pro ranks among the best in the category. Even with ANC active and intensive use of HD codecs, over 6 hours of continuous use can be easily achieved. The quick charge takes 10 minutes in the case to provide about 5 hours of playback.
Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity also offers almost imperceptible latency. In gaming, this means hearing opponents' footsteps in real-time without the typical audio delay. The dual connection is excellent for this price range. The transition between smartphone (for calls) and PC (for work) occurs smoothly, without the user needing to touch any settings.
Smart Features and Integrated Translation
The integration of smart functions is the true differentiating factor. Through the HeyMelody app, which we analyzed in detail, the OPPO Enco Air5 Pro transforms from simple earbuds into productivity tools.
The main screen of the app is the operational dashboard. Here we monitor residual charge, which is displayed with millimeter precision for left and right. However, the section dedicated to AI translation deserves particular attention. This feature supports over 24 languages: we simulated a short conversation between Italian and English, and the latency between the interlocutor's speech and the translation in our ears was minimal. It’s a feature that, while not replacing a human translator in complex contexts, is invaluable during travels or international meetings.
The equalizer functionality is another gem, with the transition between “Ultimate Sound”, “Bass”, and “Vocals” being instantaneous. We then have the option to customize the touch controls, assigning for example the volume control with a simple slide, making daily use very smooth. Finally, compatibility with Spotify Tap ensures that our music is always at hand (or rather, at ear) with a single touch.
Price and Conclusions
Now let’s talk about the price of these headphones, which, as you may have guessed, convinced us. The new OPPO Enco Air5 Pro are available on the Italian market in Pearl White and Matte Black colors. They can be purchased through official channels, including the OPPO Store and MediaWorld chain, at a list price of 89.99€.
For those interested in a complete setup, the brand has provided a beneficial debut promotion: by adding just 5.99€ at the time of purchase, it will be possible to include the OPPO SUPERVOOC 33W fast charger in the package, an extremely useful solution to keep mobile devices always ready for use.
At this price, the OPPO Enco Air5 Pro are undoubtedly one of the most balanced choices of 2026. They are not only an excellent audio product but also an ecosystem of functionalities that offers an unbeatable quality-price ratio in the mid-range.
