PS Plus Essential: July 2026's 'Free' Games Feature a Major Title
Sony has officially announced the selection of games that will be available for subscribers of the PlayStation Plus Essential service in July 2026. The new monthly offering includes three titles that can be redeemed from July 7 until August 3.
The main game of the lineup is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, offered in the Cross-Gen Bundle version, compatible with both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This allows a wide player base to access the title regardless of the console generation owned.
Alongside the famous shooter, the selection also includes For the King II, a role-playing game that combines roguelite elements with mechanics inspired by board games. This title is also available for both platforms, PS5 and PS4, offering a cooperative and strategic experience. The third game in the monthly selection is CrossCode, a 2D action RPG with a retro style, also accessible on both PS5 and PS4 for subscribers to the service.
Additional Details on Free Games for July with PS Plus Essential
All three games can be added to the library during the availability period and will remain playable even after the end of the distribution window, as long as the subscription to any level of PlayStation Plus is maintained. Sony also reminded users that the games from the previous month will remain redeemable until July 7. Among these are Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which will be removed from the rotation to make way for new titles.
The service's formula continues to follow the already established monthly structure, offering a selection of games from different genres, ranging from pure action to role-playing, and even more classic indie experiences. The goal is to keep the catalog dynamic and ensure subscribers receive new offerings every month.
