Mac Studio, refresh in 2026 and new generation in 2028: here’s what Apple will do with its computer

The Mac Studio will continue to be a central element of Apple’s Mac range, even though prices are set to rise due to the memory crisis, which has already led the Cupertino company to increase the prices of many Macs. The future lineup includes several updates for the Mac Studio, as clarified by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

Two new releases on the way

Apple plans to release two new Mac Studios: the first will arrive in 2026 and will be a refresh of the current model, adopting the M5 Ultra chip; this model is expected to integrate unified memory support of up to 768 GB with the aim of becoming a benchmark for the artificial intelligence sector. The second will be a more significant upgrade and will use the M7 Ultra chip, with an expected debut in 2028.

Apple will not produce variants of the M6 chip, which will only be available with the base version, and will focus on the M7 series for high-end model updates. The Mac Studio arriving in 2028 will not be a simple refresh but will feature a different internal architecture aimed at improving cooling and thus offering even better performance. More details will arrive shortly.

The issue of pricing remains on the table. Future Mac Studios could be very expensive. Apple, let’s remember, has just updated the pricing of the current model with the M3 Ultra version, which saw a €1,300 increase. The next generations, also due to the use of increasingly costly chips, could cost much more.
