Godox C100: the brand's first camera features a transparent display

Godox, a Chinese company known until now exclusively for flashes and professional lighting equipment, has launched its first camera: the C100. The hallmark is the complete absence of a traditional LCD screen, replaced by an active transparent panel measuring 60.8 × 47.8 mm, with light transmission exceeding 50%, which overlays the composition grid, exposure parameters, and battery status in real time.

The price is 199 yuan, approximately 25 euros. The camera weighs about 65 grams and measures 104 × 71.7 × 19.1 mm, a slim profile designed to fit in your pocket.

An overlay display, not just simple graphics

The difference compared to similar proposals already seen on the market lies in the nature of the panel, which is active and not just a simple fixed glass with printed graphics, as is the case with the Escura InstantSnap, showcased at CP+ 2025 in Yokohama, which somehow inspired the design of the new Godox C100.

There is no rear screen for reviewing shots: photos can only be viewed by transferring files via USB-C to a smartphone or computer, or by physically extracting the microSD card (supports up to 128GB, not included). The USB-C port also manages charging at 5V/1A, with OTG support. The built-in battery ensures over an hour and a half of continuous video recording.

A light meter designed for film

The C100 integrates a center-weighted light meter that reads the brightness of the central area of the frame and automatically calculates the optimal exposure values, with coupled control of aperture and shutter speed. This function explicitly targets those who still shoot on film, offering a pocket companion to calculate exposure without an analog camera in hand. From the available information, it shows a manual ISO range of 100-800, an aperture from f/1.0 to f/64, and a shutter speed from 1/8000s to 1s. The device supports four image formats (16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1), with guidelines on the transparent display adjusting accordingly.

Godox has not released data on the sensor, resolution, or video quality. The preview JPEG files are between 320 and 570 KB, an indication of a rather limited resolution: the C100 is not actually designed as a tool to assist in the initial phase of composing the shot.

The launch has occurred only in China: currently, there is no product page on the international Godox website, and the camera is not yet available at major retailers outside the Chinese market. Godox describes the product philosophy as an invitation to stay in the moment of the shot instead of immediately going back to check the photo just taken, a positioning that calls back the revival of simple compact cameras in recent years.
