Xiaomi 18 Aims for a 7,200mAh Battery and Prepares a Direct Challenge to Future Flagships

According to the latest information shared by the well-known informant Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is working on a prototype of the Xiaomi 18 equipped with a 7,200mAh battery. This figure represents an improvement over the previous generation Xiaomi 17, which had a capacity of 7,000mAh. While the increase is not huge, it is particularly interesting considering that the device is expected to maintain a compact format.

The smartphone market is seeing models with even larger batteries, especially among devices with more generous sizes, with capacities that can reach up to 8,000mAh or 10,000mAh. In this context, a 7,200mAh battery on a more manageable phone could represent a distinguishing feature.

Rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 18 will be equipped with a display of about 6.4 inches with a 2K resolution and very thin, symmetrical bezels. The panel may utilize SuperPixel technology, while the overall design aims to maintain compact dimensions without compromising the features of a premium product.

Not Just Battery: Additional Details on the Xiaomi 18

On the performance front, the device is expected to adopt the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, a processor made with a 2-nanometer manufacturing process. The same chip is also expected in the Pro variant, allowing the standard Xiaomi 18 to position itself among the few compact smartphones with next-generation hardware.

The camera system is expected to be one of the most significant points of the device, with anticipations talking about a rear system with 200-megapixel sensors of considerable size. Furthermore, for the first time in the standard Xiaomi series, a 3X periscopic telephoto lens may be introduced, a feature that has so far been mainly associated with the Pro models.

Other anticipated features include an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and complete water protection. Charging is expected to remain unchanged from the previous model, with support for both 100W wired and wireless charging. The base model is not expected to include the rear display present in the Pro versions, which will remain an exclusive feature of the higher-end range.
