HONOR Watch 6: up to 35 days of battery life and NFC payments, on promotion with discount code for €169.90

HONOR Watch 6

The HONOR Watch 6 arrives on the Italian market in a segment crowded with advanced fitness trackers and entry-level smartwatches. This wearable aligns interesting features (41 grams on the wrist, AMOLED display with 3,000 nits, 122 sport modes, dual-band GPS), but two elements stand out for daily use: battery life, built around a 980 mAh battery, and contactless payments via NFC, which can be made conveniently with a simple hand gesture, without needing to reach for a wallet or smartphone.

Currently on promotion with the discount code AHW80 for a price of €169.90, and bundled with HONOR CHOICE Earbuds Clip.

Battery Life: A 980 mAh battery that reduces recharges

The first point on which the Watch 6 builds its competitive advantage against the competition is longevity. The 980 mAh battery provides considerable capacity for its category, and HONOR claims up to 35 days of use under typical conditions. In real usage, like always in this category, actual battery life depends on how much GPS, screen, and continuous monitoring are utilized, but that’s just the point: even scaling down expectations, the battery life of the Watch 6 continues to be measured in weeks, not days.

With notifications, continuous heart rate monitoring, and a few weekly workout sessions without GPS, around 20 days of autonomy is a credible goal for most users. Activating GPS for trail running or cycling does decrease the duration for each session more noticeably, as expected, but the ample battery reserve still ensures several days of margin before needing to return to the charger, unlike other devices in this range that require nearly daily recharging.

And the practicality of these numbers is precisely the frequency with which one must remember to recharge. A smartwatch that requires charge every two or three weeks, instead of daily or every couple of days like most models with always-on AMOLED, changes the way you use it, as it stops being yet another device to manage and becomes one you forget is even on your wrist. Despite the 980 mAh capacity, the case of the HONOR Watch 6 manages to keep the weight under 41 grams.

NFC Payments: Contactless from the wrist, without a balance to recharge

The second aspect looks at daily life outside of exercise. The Watch 6 integrates an NFC chip that enables contactless payments directly from the watch, relying on Mastercard and Visa circuits. The function is developed in collaboration with Fidesmo and will be operational very soon: HONOR indicates it available starting July 2026. Those purchasing at this stage find the hardware already set up, with the service activation imminent.

What characterizes this implementation is the absence of a balance to preload. Some payment solutions on wearable devices require transferring funds to a dedicated wallet before being able to pay; here, the intermediate step of reloading is not required. For the user, it means using the watch in the same way as a card or phone at the terminal, without a separate balance to track. It’s the difference between a system that simply displays the card already in the user's possession and one that imposes a separate account to manage, with the delays and balance checks that come with it.

Compared to other smart functions of the device, such as the AI Recorder or video watch faces that are tied to the HONOR ecosystem, contactless payment relies, as mentioned, on Mastercard and Visa circuits, the same as common usage cards. The advantage is measured in daily actions: bringing the wrist close to the POS for coffee or quick shopping without pulling out a wallet or phone, settling the bar tab when one hand is busy, paying for a taxi ride or parking with just one motion. It’s especially during sports activities that the difference is felt when one goes out for a run or to the gym without spacious pockets: the watch stays on the wrist and carries the card as well. A convenience that, in a price range where NFC is not at all taken for granted, helps shift HONOR Watch 6 from the simple sports tracker territory to that of a watch to keep on all day.
