A Hidden Fan and an Unconventional Design: Here Are the New RTX 5080 Aorus Infinity
GIGABYTE has officially announced the expansion of the AORUS INFINITY family with two new GeForce RTX 5080 graphics cards. The new models, AORUS GeForce RTX 5080 INFINITY 16G and AORUS GeForce RTX 5080 INFINITY WOOD 16G, take inspiration from the stylistic language introduced by the RTX 5090 INFINITY and feature a completely renewed design alongside an advanced cooling platform aimed at improving thermal efficiency even under high workloads.
This new range celebrates GIGABYTE's 40th anniversary and aims to combine enthusiast-level performance, advanced cooling, and attention to aesthetics, with two different interpretations of the same project.
The two versions share the same technical base but adopt different stylistic philosophies. The AORUS GeForce RTX 5080 INFINITY 16G maintains the futuristic aesthetic of the series, inspired by aerospace turbines, enhanced by an integrated RGB lighting system in the inner and outer rings of the fans that creates a circular light effect.
In contrast, the AORUS GeForce RTX 5080 INFINITY WOOD 16G introduces a wood-effect finish that breaks away from the traditional design of gaming graphics cards. The goal is to integrate the product into configurations where the aesthetic must match a more sober environment, combining natural-looking materials with hardware designed for the most demanding users.
From a technical viewpoint, the main innovation is represented by the WINDFORCE Hyperburst cooling system. This solution introduces a new Double Flow Through design, allowing both fans to direct airflow through the heatsink without obstacles. Thanks to a dual opening on the backplate, GIGABYTE claims an increase in airflow penetration of up to 58% compared to traditional designs and 28% greater than single opening configurations, leading to better heat dissipation.
The series also integrates a hidden Overdrive fan, located in the central part of the structure. This system maintains the appearance of a dual fan solution but adds an auxiliary fan that automatically kicks in during high GPU loads, boosting airflow and helping maintain consistent performance during extended use sessions.
Cooling is complemented by Hawk Fan fans, designed to reduce turbulence and noise. According to the company, they offer up to 53.6% more static pressure and a 12.5% increase in airflow. Cooling also involves a vapor chamber in direct contact with the GPU, copper composite heat pipes, high-performance metal thermal compound, and a server-grade thermal gel dedicated to VRAM and MOSFET to ensure long-term reliability.
Particular attention has also been paid to the assembly of the systems. The new cards indeed support Project Stealth, the ecosystem developed by GIGABYTE for creating configurations with rear cabling. The hidden power connector allows cables to be concealed within the structure of the card, while a magnetic cover on the backplate further enhances the aesthetic cleanliness of the system.
Finally, the company confirmed that in July, the AORUS GeForce RTX 5070 Ti INFINITY 16G and AORUS GeForce RTX 5070 INFINITY 12G will also be released, further expanding the AORUS INFINITY range dedicated to gamers and high-performance PC enthusiasts.
At this time, Gigabyte has not shared pricing or availability details for the new GPUs. For more information regarding the specifications of the graphics cards, please visit the official website.
