Notion Shuts Down Its AI-Based Email Client Just Over a Year After Launch
Notion has announced the closure of Notion Mail, the AI-based email service introduced within its productivity ecosystem. The platform, launched in April 2025, will be definitively discontinued on September 22, 2026, and will no longer be available on web, desktop, and iOS versions.

According to the company's announcement, the decision to eliminate Notion Mail stems from a shift in the strategic direction related to artificial intelligence. Notion claims that its AI agents have become increasingly advanced, and many users have begun to rely on them for email management without needing to access the inbox directly.

Additional Details on the Closure of Notion Mail
The company explained that a significant portion of Notion Mail users now utilize automated systems to organize their email work. For this reason, Notion has decided to focus more on smart agents, aiming to develop tools that can manage tasks directly on behalf of users.
The company also thanked those who used the service and built their habits around Notion Mail, emphasizing the importance of the trust received from users in managing a personal element like email. To facilitate the shutdown, Notion has indicated some important dates. From June 25, users can export their exclusive Notion Mail data via the app or web version.
September 21 will be the last day available to save the information they wish to keep. The following day, September 22, the service will be disabled and all non-exported data will be permanently deleted. The closure only affects Notion Mail, while the other main tools of the Notion ecosystem will remain available. Until the service ceases, the application can still be downloaded from the App Store.
