Cyber Attack on Tata: Data on Apple and Tesla Products Stolen

Tata Electronics has confirmed that it has suffered a data theft following a cyber security incident that affected some of its systems. The Indian company is a partner of Apple and Tesla, and the incident may have exposed data and trade secrets from both companies. The attack is believed to have been carried out by the group World Leaks, which has reportedly already published some of the stolen data on the dark web.

A Cyber Attack

In a statement released to Reuters, Tata emphasized:
"A few weeks ago, Tata Electronics identified a cybersecurity incident on some of our systems. Our response protocols were activated immediately, and the incident did not impact our operations across all sectors, which remain unchanged."

Tata is a key partner for Apple and plays a fundamental role for the Cupertino company, which is working to reduce its dependence on China and move the production of iPhones and other products to India. The company, also active in the automotive sector, manufactures components for Tesla.

It should be noted that the Indian group is also collaborating with Intel, which, however, is not involved in the leak.

The volume of data stolen during the cyber attack is enormous, and there are no specific detailed details regarding the nature of this data. For Apple, in particular, it involves data related to the production process and quality control and the materials used in the assembly of various products. Among the documents related to Tesla, there would be some references to the company's models, such as the new versions of Model 3 and Model Y launched in the past.

Tata, Tesla, and Apple have not provided further details on the matter. However, it is clear that investigations are underway to reconstruct the incident and verify which data was actually stolen. Further details on this issue may emerge in the coming days.
