AMD Drivers Broken on Windows 10? Hotfix Released to Solve Everything

AMD has released a hotfix to resolve the installation issue that the graphics driver 26.6.2 was causing on several PCs running Windows 10. The fix, identified as version 26.6.3 Hotfix, is already available for download from the company's official website.

The problem emerged just a few days after the release of driver 26.6.2, which brought support for FSR 4.1 to the previous generation of Radeon cards, the RX 7000 series, offering users an upscaling technology that had previously been reserved for newer GPUs. Several users still on Windows 10 reported an installation error, appearing with a warning identified by users as "Yellow Bang Error" due to the attention symbol shown by Device Manager. In many cases, the driver was only partially installed, leaving some software components outdated and forcing users to attempt installation multiple times before giving up and reverting to the previous version.

AMD quickly acknowledged the issue and recently published the fix. As this is a hotfix, the release notes list only one change: the resolution of the installation problem that occurred when installing AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 on Windows 10 systems with RX 7000 series or higher graphics cards. The company announced the availability of the patch via their official account on X, apologizing to the affected users. In the message, AMD explained that, in their attempt to bring FSR 4.1 support to RDNA 3 GPUs, the installation problem on some Windows 10 systems had gone unnoticed during testing. The fix is now available, and the company also promised a WHQL-certified driver in the coming days.

Windows 10 users, we're sorry for the inconvenience. While bringing FSR 4.1 support to RDNA 3 users, we missed an issue that prevented AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 from installing on some Windows 10 systems. A fix is available now, and we'll release a WHQL... -- AMD Radeon (@AMDRadeon) June 24, 2026

While waiting for the certified update, those who have already encountered the error can install the hotfix or restore the previous version of the driver using the AMD Cleanup Utility, the official tool designed to completely remove graphics packages before a new installation. The AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview is compatible with all currently supported graphics cards, both on Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit. The complete release notes, including the platforms and GPU models covered by the fix, can be found on the same download page.
