8BitDo Arcade Controller Pro is the Dream for Fighting Game Enthusiasts

8BitDo has announced the new Arcade Controller Pro, an evolution of the company's first leverless controller designed for fighting game enthusiasts. The product particularly targets competitive players and introduces a series of updates aimed at improving ergonomics, customization, and practicality during gaming sessions.

The design retains the characteristic rectangular shape typical of all-button controllers, a category that replaces the traditional analog stick with dedicated movement buttons. Compared to the previous model, the buttons are smaller and closer together, a choice made to facilitate access to commands and promote quicker hand movements during matches. This is all accompanied by a tempered glass plate that can be easily removed.

Among the main updates is the addition of a fifth programmable button located on the left side of the controller. The original model had four customizable buttons, while the new configuration expands the assignment possibilities of commands while allowing greater freedom of movement for the left hand.

Another significant introduction is the integrated display, which allows players to view the inputs registered by the controller, the battery status, and modify some quick settings. This feature enables users to monitor useful information without interrupting their gaming session.

On the top, there is the control panel already present in the previous generation. Through this section, players can select connection modes, adjust the volume, and activate the Tournament Lock, a function designed to prevent accidental button presses during competitions.

8BitDo has also updated customization options. The Arcade Controller Pro uses hot-swap switches, which allow for replacement without complex interventions, and new circular key caps that can be installed from any orientation.

The programmable buttons P1-P5 can be replaced with special locking caps included in the package, a solution designed to reduce the risk of unintentional inputs during the most intense moments. Advanced configuration also goes through Ultimate Software V2, the proprietary software that allows users to modify button mapping and create custom macros. The package also includes a magnetic wrist rest.

Regarding connectivity, the controller supports wired use on both Windows and Nintendo Switch. The USB-C connection can be made from the top or side of the device. Additionally, there is a metal locking system that keeps the cable securely connected even during sudden movements.

Wireless connectivity support is also included. On PC, the 2.4 GHz mode is available, while on Nintendo Switch, Bluetooth can be used. According to the company, battery life reaches about 15 hours of use with RGB features turned off.

Currently, 8BitDo has not yet announced an official release date or any pricing information for the new Arcade Controller Pro.
