Season 14 of Diablo IV: Details of the Awakening of Death
Blizzard Entertainment has announced the arrival of the fourteenth season of Diablo IV, titled "Season of the Awakening of Death," with a launch date set for June 30. At the same time, players will be able to try the Sorceress class for a limited period for free. This update follows the events of Lord of Hatred, where Mephisto's wrath left a legacy of destruction, culminating in the awakening of Death itself in the realm of Pandemonium, the same backdrop for Malthael's defeat in Diablo III.
Season 14 introduces a substantial set of new features and endgame updates, reworking some fundamental mechanics.
Main Content and Changes of Season 14
From June 30 to July 7, players will be able to immerse themselves in the core experience of Diablo IV and test the Sorceress class up to level 30. Any progress made will be retained if the complete version of the game is purchased. Starting July 8, Blizzard will expand the offer with an extended trial on Battle.net, allowing players to experience the base game and various classes, with the same promise of progress retention for those who decide to proceed with the purchase.
The new season also introduces Pandemonium Fractures, anomalies that manifest throughout Sanctuary, bringing with them a trail of destruction. The goal is to hunt the Pilgrims of the Realms and conquer the portals within the Hall of Rites, an arena where speed is crucial. Players will have to race against time to expand a ritual circle as quickly as possible, facing increasingly intense waves of enemies.
On the equipment front, Blizzard rewrites the rules for Unique items with the Mythic Uniques. Now, any unique item will have the chance to be found directly as a mythic quality or can be upgraded to that level. This substantial change frees players from previous limitations, where only a handful of specific items could reach such quality, now offering full freedom to equip desired items without sacrificing power.
For solo wolves and pure competition enthusiasts, the Self-Sufficient Mode arrives. This option allows players to play solo, with no ability to trade or form groups, and scale exclusive leaderboards designed to demonstrate skill in an absolute parity context. Competitive play exits beta with the new Rankings and the Tower, where the best will earn exclusive Cosmetic Haloes and prestigious titles, asserting their dominance over the entire world of Sanctuary.
Finally, an unexpected collaboration will see the heroes of Sanctuary unite with those from Overwatch. A limited-time event will allow players to obtain iconic cosmetic items through the Reliquary, including the standout Kiriko Mascot Pack, a direct reference to the universe of Blizzard's shooter. Season 14 of Diablo IV promises a rich experience filled with novelties that will push players to confront an unprecedented threat. While Death may seem inevitable in the realm of Pandemonium, Blizzard suggests that it is not entirely unstoppable.
