iPhone Ultra, a Year After Launch It Could Become Much More Affordable

The new iPhone Ultra, Apple's first foldable smartphone, could experience an unusual price drop after its launch, at least by Apple's standards. The confirmation comes from a new study by SellCell.

A Sharp Decline After One Year?

After a year on the market, which could happen in September, Apple's foldable could cost much less compared to its launch price, with a drastic decline in its value, similar to what happened with the iPhone Air, which was a commercial flop.

The new iPhone is expected to hit the market with a price of about $2,000 (around €2,500). According to the study, foldables typically experience an average value loss of 64.6% after one year from launch. This percentage is significantly higher than the 55.3% loss observed in traditional smartphones. In such a scenario, the iPhone Ultra could lose over $1,200 a year after its launch.

Apple models, as highlighted in the study, tend to retain a higher value compared to other brands. Following the example of the iPhone 16, for instance, the value loss could be 51.5%, amounting to just over $1,000 (based on price rumors).

For many users interested in purchasing Apple's first foldable, it might be a good idea to wait a few months. The price could gradually decrease, and the software might become increasingly optimized with each update. Remember, the iPhone Ultra is expected to debut in the upcoming month of September.
