The Video Game Sector Remains Unscathed by the Crisis with Record Revenue in 2025 for PC, Console, and Mobile
The video game market is growing larger and has recently reached a historic milestone in terms of revenue, confirming a new step in a growth program that shows no signs of slowing down, despite the memory crisis (which could last another two years) causing significant issues for the gaming PC and console segments.
Record Numbers for the Video Game Industry
A new report confirms the growth of the global video game market, which closed 2025 with an annual revenue of $201 billion. This marks the first time the sector has surpassed the $200 billion barrier in a single year. The year-on-year growth is +9.1%. Furthermore, the latest estimates suggest that the market is expected to continue growing, reaching $234 billion by 2028.
Notably:
- The PC sector generated $43.6 billion, with a growth of 12%.
- The console sector reached $44.7 billion, representing a growth of 2.8% (following a negative 2024); titles like GTA 6 expected in 2026 could ensure substantial growth.
- The mobile sector continues to lead in revenue, with a total of $113.3 billion and a growth of 10.7%.
However, the video game market must contend with various challenges, such as the rising costs of development, which are causing significant problems for companies in the sector. The increase in revenue is mainly linked to price hikes, from which much of the revenue growth depends.
