Samsung Galaxy S27, the compact model may disappoint: Chinese display and few novelties compared to S26
The S27 series will continue to feature, as the base model, a compact smartphone simply named Samsung Galaxy S27. A new leak confirms that the next generation compact will present few novelties compared to the current model. This choice might also be linked to Samsung's desire to push users towards the Galaxy S27 Pro, which will essentially be a more compact Ultra model.
What will the new Galaxy S27 be like? From the first information emerging in the past few hours, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S27 will not present real novelties in terms of display and cameras. Furthermore, to keep costs down, Samsung is reportedly considering the use of OLED panels supplied by BOE, forgoing the ``in-house'' panels from Samsung Display, which have a higher cost (but also superior quality).
The new generation may be limited to updating the SoC (with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro and the upcoming 2nm Exynos) confirming the memory provision (from 12/256 GB as the base model). The topic of the battery remains, which might not see any developments, continuing to feature a reduced capacity (4,300 mAh) by current market standards.
The new S27 series will debut in the first months of 2027. There is plenty of time, therefore, to evaluate what Samsung's moves will be, not just for the high-end models (Pro and Ultra) but also for the new generations of the compact and Plus version. With the memory crisis possibly worsening, the Korean company will have to make tough decisions, especially considering the need to contain costs.
