Memory Crisis: CMF Cancels Upcoming Smartphone Due to Unsustainable Costs
CMF's growth program in the smartphone sector has been interrupted, and for the moment, there are no new models on the way.
The reason behind this decision is not a surprise and has been confirmed by Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of the brand, in a post on X.
The memory crisis has made it unsustainable to manufacture a new smartphone for the Nothing sub-brand, which has now become an independent company.
Appointment in 2027?
CMF will not be producing new smartphones for the time being. Following the launch of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, the company was working on the development of the CMF Phone 3 Pro, which had already been the subject of various rumors in the past weeks.
A lot of you have been asking when the next CMF phone is coming, and as always, we'd rather be transparent. CMF Phone 2 Pro was a product we were incredibly proud of. It even won Budget Phone of the Year from MKBHD, and the response from all of you made it even more special.

However, the project has been halted and suspended due to the high cost of memory, which would make the start of production unsustainable. As confirmed in recent days by Carl Pei, for Nothing, the cost of memory has exceeded the combined cost of display and chips.
For CMF, this is a significant setback, especially after the good results obtained by previous models that had allowed the brand to gain global recognition, achieving excellent commercial results and several awards.
CMF has plans for other devices in 2026, with new accessories and even an unprecedented product. We will know more in the coming weeks. The company's activities continue, awaiting for the crisis to subside and for the cost of components to become sustainable again.
In the meantime, Nothing will continue to maintain its presence in the smartphone segment and is expected to launch new products in the near future.
