The PS6 Will Make Us Wait: The Launch May Have Been Delayed Again
The release period of the PS6 has become a real mystery, with Sony itself not having a clear idea. Everything revolves around the memory crisis. Indeed, with the rising cost of components, it is difficult for the Japanese company to find the right balance between performance and price of the console and also to obtain sufficient supplies of memory to begin production.
Based on these elements, the launch of the PS6 could be postponed. In particular, the console may arrive on the market no earlier than 2028, with a launch in 2029 that cannot be ruled out.
Delayed Launch to 2029 for Sony's Console?
Embracer Group, a company that controls several development studios, provides us with an updated overview of the situation in its annual report, detailing some aspects of the PS6 launch. According to Embracer Group, at this moment:
"Some analysts believe that Sony is considering postponing the debut of its next PlayStation console from 2027 to 2028 or even 2029."
It is unlikely that Sony provided direct updates to Embracer Group, which may refer to various industry analyst reports that have already highlighted the company's problems in recent months. The industry seems to agree that the debut of the PS6 is not imminent and that we will need to wait a while longer before the new console's debut. Many development studios will need to readjust their launch plans for their products.
