Report a crime? Now you can do it online. Here is the new service from the State Police

Starting from June 15, 2026, the service "Online Reports" is operational, which is the new experimental service of the State Police that allows citizens to start a pre-report procedure through a dedicated online platform. The service enables users to fill out and submit an online request for a pre-report concerning specific types of crimes. Once submitted, the pre-report must be formalized within the next 48 hours at a police office participating in the initiative. The platform also allows users to directly book the necessary appointment to complete the procedure.

Access to the service is available through the "Online Reports" portal, accessible from the official State Police website. The link to the platform has also been integrated into the IO app, within the "Services" section of the Ministry of the Interior - Department of Public Safety.

The platform can be used to initiate pre-reports related to fraud, theft, cyber fraud, unauthorized access to computer or telematic systems, illicit use of credit and payment cards, and cases of online defamation.

Additional details about the "Online Reports" service

In the initial experimental phase, the service is active in several locations in Lazio. Among these are the Police Headquarters of Frosinone and Rieti, the Police Stations of Cassino, Fiuggi, and Sora, as well as the Road Police Department of Lazio and Umbria and their respective territorial sections. The project also involves the Operational Center for Cybersecurity in Lazio and the sections in Frosinone, Rieti, Viterbo, and Latina. The Railway Police Department of Lazio, with posts in Frosinone, Orte, Rome Ciampino, and Rome Termini, as well as the subsection in Rome Tiburtina, also participates.

Starting from June 15, 2026, a further service dedicated to reporting the loss of personal belongings has been activated nationwide. Among the items that can be reported are mobile phones, tablets, laptops, keys, money, identification documents, license plates, ATM cards, and credit cards. In this case, the procedure can be completed entirely online without the need to go to a police office. The protocolled report will be made available in the personal area of the "Online Reports" portal within 96 hours of submitting the report. The document can subsequently be used to request duplicates, new documents, or for other administrative needs related to the lost item.
