Adobe Implements Agentic AI Everywhere: Firefly Lands on Premiere, Illustrator, and More

Adobe has extended the integration of its AI-based assistant Firefly to Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io. The company has launched the tools in public beta, offering features designed to alleviate repetitive tasks for graphic designers and video editors.

The suite is enriched with options for managing workflows in the field. The assistant takes on tedious tasks such as reorganizing video clips, renaming project elements, adding markers during interviews, rearranging graphic layers, and automatically searching for missing fonts in documents. The goal is operational efficiency, aiming to eliminate the manual steps that slow down daily production.

Adobe is implementing new agentic AI features in its software. The path charted by Adobe aims to counter the competition from agile platforms, progressively adopting an approach reminiscent of Canva’s usability philosophy. Among the new options for generating images, videos, and storyboards is a feature called Elements, designed to store and reuse characters, objects, and settings created by the algorithm.

In parallel, developers have introduced the Projects section, focused on sharing context and centralizing resources for entire video series or coordinated campaigns. This option, along with Elements, is currently in a closed invite-only testing phase. The potential extends to the guided creation of visual identity kits: by entering a textual description of the positioning or uploading preexisting materials, the assistant generates color palettes, logos, and even promotional product videos from static images. Users can also structure complex storyboards to set the entire sequence of an edit before starting the final rendering.

This massive injection of generative algorithms comes at a delicate moment for the US giant, characterized by a contraction in the stock value over the past year. If for the San Jose management, the assistant represents the ideal answer to regain investor confidence, the reception by professionals shows various shades of skepticism. Many users complain about the need to accept necessary compromises related to the stability of traditional software in exchange for tools based on agentic AI.
