7Artisans Dream Cine Lens: three T1.5 full-frame lenses under $300 for Nikon, Canon, Sony, and L-Mount
7Artisans has introduced the series Dream Cine Lens: three manual full-frame cinema lenses at T1.5 (35mm, 50mm, and 75mm) designed for emerging filmmakers and cinema students. Prices start at $279 for the 50mm T1.5, with the 75mm T1.5 at $289 and the 35mm T1.5 at $299; the complete set of three lenses is available for $850. The lenses cover four mounts: E (Sony), Z (Nikon), L (Leica/Panasonic/Sigma), and RF (Canon).
The entire series shares a unified mechanical layout with de-clicked apertures and consistent positioning of control mechanisms, designed to allow quick focal length changes without reconfiguring the rig. Common features include full-frame coverage, a focus rotation of 300°, and minimized focus breathing.
The three focal lengths in detail
- The 35mm T1.5, with an 11-blade diaphragm, is oriented towards immersive storytelling and handheld shooting. Its natural perspective makes it suitable for dialogue scenes and environmental portraits, with an organic bokeh and marked subject separation from the background.
- The 50mm T1.5 has a 10-blade diaphragm and integrates threads for mounting rigging accessories: the anchor points allow for stable attachment of follow-focus or support systems on elaborate configurations. It is the balance point of the series for field of view and versatility.
- The 75mm T1.5, with a 13-blade diaphragm, offers the strongest compression of the lineup and is intended for close-ups and cinematic portraits, with enhanced background separation.
Who is the Dream series intended for?
7Artisans explicitly targets solo creators, emerging filmmakers, and those trying out a more "filmic" workflow for the first time. The unified mechanical system aims to lower the entry threshold without compromising the construction features typical of shooting lenses: de-clicked aperture, gear ring, and generous focus throw.
