Surprise: the heir to the Dacia Spring will be called... Dacia Spring
The Dacia Spring, the small electric car from the Romanian brand, has won nearly 210,000 customers in Europe, and recently brought to market more powerful engines and a revised platform, with a new battery and more balanced weights (all explained in our recent video).
However, a new version was expected, with a very short lifespan, as it was known that a new model would soon be arriving, directly produced in Europe by Renault, and no longer imported from China. It seemed that the new electric car from Dacia was to be called Evader, but apparently the management has reconsidered.
Spring is now a well-established name among customers, and changing it could cause confusion, as Spring has become synonymous with an affordable electric vehicle from the Dacia brand. So the new car, of which you see the first promotional images above, is changing its name, or rather keeping the old one, and will still be called Spring, a decision that has just been made, so much so that the promotional material still carries Evader in the file names.
On the technical side, there should be no doubts: based on the new Renault Twingo (which in turn inherited Dacia components), with engines between 70 and 100 HP, and a battery most likely around 28 kWh, for a range of 250 km. Price? Rumor has it that it will remain around 18,000 euros.
