Official Google Home Speaker: the First Designed to Work with Gemini

Google has officially announced the launch of the new Google Home Speaker, the first audio device from the company specifically designed to integrate with the Gemini assistant. The product has opened pre-order today, ahead of its actual commercial availability. The home ecosystem is thus enriched with a tool focused on the evolution of voice control.

The integration of Gemini in Home allows for breaking away from the rigidity of old preset commands. The interface shows advanced reasoning capabilities and adapts to the everyday speech of the user. This flexibility translates into managing complex requests based on logic, such as excluding individual lighting sources within a general command. Users can give multiple commands within a single sentence, coordinating the adjustment of light points, starting music, and cooking timers. Another key element lies in error tolerance: the system corrects the action in real-time if the speaker changes the instruction mid-sentence.

Google Home Speaker: Premium Features and Multimedia Integration

The extensive processing capacity allows for solving complex questions structured over multiple steps. The speaker analyzes external variables, cross-referencing temporal and geographical data to provide precise responses about the expected weather conditions at sporting event locations. Dialogue management leverages a short-term conversational context, eliminating the need to repeat the subject of the sentences. The Continued Conversation feature keeps the microphone open for a short window after each response, facilitating smooth question-and-answer interactions. This mode extends support to all compatible languages, accompanied by ten new naturally sounding voice variants.

The ecosystem expands through the Google Home Premium package, which unlocks advanced tools such as Gemini Live. This option allows for initiating free two-way interaction sessions for brainstorming and idea development without structural constraints. The security module utilizes the analysis of Nest camera history. The speaker responds to specific inquiries about the status of home accesses or the positioning of pets detected by sensors. Users have the option to request a summary report of recorded household events during afternoon absences or weekends.

From a hardware perspective, the acoustic device distributes 360-degree balanced sound to evenly cover environments. The microphone modules use an advanced processing system to isolate voice from background noise. The device connects with the Google TV Streamer hardware, allowing for the setup of up to two speakers to structure a spatial surround sound system in one's living room.

The outer shell employs sustainable materials paired with a customized 3D-knit fabric coating, complemented by a lower luminous ring designed to visually signal the phases of listening, processing, and responding. Privacy protection is ensured by a hardware switch that quickly disables the microphones at any time.

In Italy, the new Google Home Speaker is available for pre-order through the official sales channel and will hit the market on June 25 at the proprietary store and major online platforms, with a retail price of 119.99 euros in matcha green and clay gray colors.
