ChatGPT Never Stops: Surpasses One Billion Monthly Users in Record Time

Even though competition from other services is palpable, ChatGPT has just reached a very important milestone. OpenAI's application, in fact, has achieved 1 billion active users on a monthly basis, reaching this result in record time. To sustain the growth of paying users, which is essential for making the service sustainable in the long run, OpenAI may cut the prices of some subscription plans.

A Record Result for ChatGPT

According to Sensor Tower's findings, ChatGPT now has over 1 billion active monthly users. The OpenAI chatbot, therefore, counts on a massive user base and has achieved this milestone in record time.

It took about 3 and a half years for the application to reach this result. The previous record belonged to Google Maps, which took about 5 years to reach one billion active monthly users.

ChatGPT is, clearly, the most used app among AI chatbots, but its growth (+62% year-on-year) is lower than that of other services like Claude, which grew by 640%, and Meta AI, which increased by 973%.

The AI chatbot sector today sees many players, and many of these aspire to close the gap with ChatGPT, approaching the leadership of OpenAI's service, which in the meantime enjoys the record result achieved. Despite the criticisms, ChatGPT remains the most popular service and continues to have a clear advantage over competing services.
