OPPO Will Also Have a Wide Foldable Smartphone

The new trend in the foldable smartphone sector is represented by models with a "wide" display, a solution that will be introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide (likely to be released next month) and by Apple with the iPhone Ultra (set to debut in September). A form factor of this type has already been launched by Huawei with the Pura X Max. However, on the horizon, there is another brand ready to carve out its space in this new segment of foldable smartphones:

Here comes OPPO

Following the trend will also be OPPO, which is working on its new "wide" smartphone, expected in the first quarter of 2027, as confirmed by new rumors. The smartphone is expected to feature the second generation of the hinge introduced with the OPPO Find X6, capable of making the crease almost invisible.

The new OPPO smartphone is expected to have a 7.6-inch foldable display along with a 5.5-inch external display. Among the suppliers involved in the project are Samsung Display and BOE. The smartphone will rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoC, manufactured with a 2 nm production process.

As mentioned earlier, OPPO is not in a hurry to complete the project and has chosen to launch its "wide" model only next year. Therefore, over the coming months, we can expect some more news regarding the project, which is set to arrive in a market segment that will already have many players at the time of launch.
