The market for mini PCs for professional use continues to grow, driven by the need for compact solutions that can respond to heterogeneous scenarios: shared workstations, POS systems, digital signage, and lightweight creative stations.
In this context, the ASUS ExpertCenter PN54-S1 fits in, measuring just 130 x 130 x 34 mm and weighing 550 grams in the barebone configuration, yet integrating an AMD Ryzen 200 series platform with Radeon 700M graphics, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and support for up to four simultaneous 4K displays.
ASUS Mini PC Hardware
The Zen 4 architecture underlying the Ryzen 200 processors ensures more than adequate performance, with a low TDP that fits well into passive chassis or limited cooling environments. The analyzed configuration features an AMD Ryzen 7 260 processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, 64 GB of DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD on which Windows 11 Pro is installed. The SSD is a SanDisk SN8000S, capable of reaching 7,300 MB/s in sequential read, a high speed that ensures responsiveness in every context.
Onboard the chip is also a 16 TOPS NPU, complemented by a Radeon 780M GPU with 12 Compute Units. Although this is not a dedicated solution, the support for FidelityFX Super Resolution technology and the ability to drive four 4K displays simultaneously represent a significant strength for multi-screen environments. In terms of AI performance, the chip overall achieves 38 TOPS.
The presence of the NPU introduces a relevant on-device AI acceleration layer for applications like voice recognition, real-time image enhancement, and automatic translation, features increasingly integrated into modern productivity suites.
Advantages of On-Device AI NPU

The maximum configuration of four monitors can also be accessed without needing additional external docks, a design choice that greatly simplifies installations in retail or digital signage settings.
The I/O panel is among the strongest points of the device. On the front, there are two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A (10 Gbps), a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C with power delivery (5V/3A), and a combo audio jack. On the back, the configuration is expanded with a USB4 at 40 Gbps, an additional USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, a USB 2.0, and two RJ45 2.5G Ethernet ports—an unusual configuration for this product category, particularly appreciated in environments with redundant or segmented wired networks.
The wireless module integrates Wi-Fi 7 with theoretical transfer speeds of up to 5.7 Gbps and Bluetooth 5.4, offering full compatibility with the latest next-generation access points. The Windows Hello fingerprint sensor adds a layer of hardware biometric authentication consistent with the product's enterprise positioning.
Thanks to the internal speaker with Smart AMP and integrated microphone, the ASUS ExpertCenter PN54-S1 eliminates the need for external audio devices. Small but Substantial
The tool-less design of the chassis allows for easy access to internal components without the use of screwdrivers, making maintenance and upgrades accessible even to non-specialized personnel. ASUS claims compatibility with 24/7 continuous operation, a relevant specification for permanent installations like kiosks, POS systems, or media players. Support for VESA mounting (optional accessory included in the package) further expands installation possibilities, allowing the device to be anchored directly to the back of a monitor.
The system is Energy Star certified, indicating an attention to energy consumption consistent with use in long-term office contexts. The 120W external power supply is sized to support configurations with maximized RAM and storage.
Zen 4 at the Core, 8 Cores for a Smooth and High-Level Experience
To test the system’s performance, we attempted to load the AMD processor with the Cinebench 2024 multi-core test, a scenario purposely outside the norms for this ASUS mini-PC, allowing us to really push the system and verify its capabilities in extreme scenarios.
Being a Zen 4 chip, we see that despite the temperature being very high—with the fan being audible—the frequency remains at decidedly adequate levels, ensuring performance that overall surpasses that of a desktop CPU Ryzen 7 5800X, still present in many gaming systems worldwide.
It can be noticed that initially the system tries to reach higher clock and consumption levels, only to slightly retrace in order to maintain more stable values, with CPU consumption around 54 watts. In short, the mobile-type processor has been implemented adequately and can support even moderately demanding daily operations without too much effort.
Conclusion
The ASUS ExpertCenter PN54-S1 presents itself as a mature and well-balanced platform for the business-oriented mini PC segment. The combination featuring the AMD Ryzen 200 processor, support for four 4K display screens, dual 2.5G LAN, and Wi-Fi 7 in a chassis just 34 mm thick represents a proposal that is hard to match in the same space category.
There is only one “flaw,” if we can call it that, which is the lack of an integrated SD card reader, which would have been the cherry on an already very good cake. The absence of a dedicated GPU limits its use in scenarios with intensive graphics loads, but does not constitute a limitation for the targeted reference groups.
The possibility of installing up to 64 GB DDR5 and the integrated NPU for AI, though aimed at modest workloads, represent excellent arrows in ASUS's quiver, along with the tool-less design for quick maintenance.
In addition to a respectable hardware configuration, ASUS offers Control Center, a centralized IT management suite that improves business productivity through complete control and an extremely intuitive user interface, and MyASUS, software that provides system control, updates, and easy access to post-sales service or ASUS customer support.
As for pricing, it starts from €1069 through the ASUS Gold Store or sites like Mister Web, a price determined by both the next-generation platform and the current market context marked by the “memory crisis,” with high RAM and storage prices being a consequence of strong demand for drives from data centers. It is hoped that, in the long run, ASUS can adjust the pricing downward.
