Acqui Terme 'elects' Eva Statiella, the first councilor created with artificial intelligence

In Acqui Terme, in the province of Alessandria, a project destined to spark discussions is taking shape: the local administration has announced the arrival of Eva Statiella, a figure generated through artificial intelligence who will become part of the city council. The initiative, promoted by Mayor Danilo Rapetti, represents an innovative experiment aimed at exploring the potential role of intelligent technologies within administrative and decision-making processes.

The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that Eva Statiella is not a real person, but a digital entity developed with AI systems. With the upcoming reshuffle of the council, the new virtual councilor will be entrusted with the delegations for Humanization, artificial intelligence, and digital transition. This choice creates a clear symbolic contrast, as an artificial figure will be responsible for addressing issues related to human relationships within public administration.

The mayor explained that the goal of the initiative is not to assign an additional political role, but to concretely understand what potential future developments could be when systems based on artificial intelligence take on a more active role in decision-making processes. The name chosen for the project also carries significant symbolic value: "Eva" evokes the biblical figure associated with the origins of humanity, while "Statiella" pays homage to both the ancient Ligurians Statielli and the ancient Acquae Statiellae, from which the name of the city derives.

However, many operational aspects remain to be defined. The ways in which the virtual councilor can contribute to administrative activities and the types of interventions she can make within her competencies have not yet been clarified. Nevertheless, the administration considers this initiative merely the first step of a broader project.

Among future ideas is indeed the creation of a "mayor avatar", a digital replica of Mayor Rapetti that could interact with citizens and tourists through social networks, providing information about municipal services and city activities. The ultimate goal is to progressively transform the municipality into a structure increasingly supported by artificial intelligence.
