Mobi Fold and Spotlight 2: a new ultra-compact mouse and ultra-tech remote for presentations from Logitech

Recently, we discussed the new control peripherals unveiled by Logitech, but the Swiss company's innovations do not stop with those devices. The company adds two more unique devices to its portfolio, designed for specific niche users.

Mobi Fold

Mobi Fold is an ultra-compact and lightweight foldable mouse, designed for those always on the move. There are people who cannot do without a mouse, even when traveling. Not everyone feels comfortable using the touchpads integrated in notebooks and prefers a classic pointing device.

Mobi Fold is designed specifically for this type of user. As the name suggests, this is a mouse that literally folds in on itself, significantly reducing its footprint. Once folded, its dimensions are smaller than a pack of cigarettes, allowing it to fit into even the pocket of your pants without discomfort, and its weight is negligible.

With just a gesture, you can "open" it and start using it. The connection is, as expected, Bluetooth, and despite its small size, the battery allows for 30 days of use. In case it runs out at the wrong moment, you can simply connect it to a USB-C port for just one minute to get an additional 22 hours of use.

In practical use, it may not be the most ergonomic mouse we have tried, but it is understandable that the company sought a compromise between portability and comfort. It features two buttons, configurable via Logi Option+, and a central area on which to slide your finger to simulate the absent scroll wheel. Sensitivity can be set directly from the control software.

The mouse is quite precise, especially when placed on a mat or very smooth surfaces, although it is not ideal for precision work with Photoshop or similar applications. It is important to note that this mouse is designed to be used on a train, in a conference room, or on a plane, not to replace the main input device, which should be kept at home or in the office. Like most Logitech peripherals, it supports the Easy-Switch functionality, allowing it to connect to three different devices simultaneously (Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS are supported).

Available in three colors: black, white, and blue, Mobi Fold retails for €79.99 for the consumer version and €89.99 for the business version, which includes the Logi Bolt connector for encrypted wireless communications.

Logitech Spotlight 2, an ultra-technological remote for presentations

Spotlight 2 is aimed at a specific niche: those who need to give presentations or conduct training courses. Unlike simpler devices that only allow you to move back and forth between PowerPoint slides, this gadget is much more advanced.

For example, the central button is equipped with haptic feedback, which is very convenient: a light press activates a small on-screen pointer, allowing you to highlight specific parts of the slide. A firmer press, on the other hand, activates a highlighting circle (a spotlight, as suggested by its name), which darkens everything around it, emphasizing a specific portion of the screen. Through the Logi Option+ software, you can set the size of the highlight as well as the contrast, and also change functionalities, for example, replacing the spotlight with a highlight box that you can draw in real-time. Alternatively, you can choose to zoom in on the selected part of the screen or take notes.

You can also customize the color of the small pointer activated by the light press, as well as the sensitivity required to activate the two modes.

One of the aspects we appreciated most is that not only is support for multiple screens available (but you can set the device to operate only on the one where the presentation is taking place), but the spotlight functionalities can also be used during streaming presentations via Teams or other platforms: for those giving conferences or involved in training, this feature is incredibly useful.

Finally, there is a traditional red laser pointer, activated by a long press of the small side button (which is also configurable).

The last feature is the "Focus" mode, designed to help presenters, particularly the more anxious ones, relax and concentrate before going on stage: through vibrations, it guides the user through the phases of inhalation and exhalation, thereby reducing stress. It is activated by a double click of the side button.

Spotlight 2 is available in four colors (black, sand, blue, and graphite) and is priced at €129.99. A price that is certainly not low, but commensurate with the technological content of the device.
