After the 'NO 5G' comes the 'NO FIBER'? Road cabinets destroyed due to (non-existent) radiation, but there's a breakthrough

After the "war" against 5G towers, previously accused of even spreading COVID-19, a "new front of NO" has emerged in recent days. This time, the target has been the fiber optic network, specifically some road cabinets located in Fondi, in the province of Latina, which were opened and damaged, causing significant service disruptions to users in the area.

A clear message Those initially described as "a group of vandals," as reported by Latina News, also left some messages to clarify the purpose of the act and, therefore, the reason behind the damage to the fiber infrastructure in the area. Among the messages left were: "For the TIM/Fiber operators. Maybe you don't understand, you have to remove everything!!!!!" or "Move these radiations under the houses of those who believe they are harmless to health!!!".

The message is clear: those who damaged the fiber road cabinets believe, without any scientific basis, that this infrastructure could somehow generate harmful radiation for health.

The situation is even more paradoxical considering that, unlike 5G towers (where there are actually radio waves, with particularly stringent limits, especially in Italy, to ensure safety), data transmission via fiber is entirely wired and does not involve any wireless transmission. There are no antennas present, and therefore, there is no real reason, aside from ignorance, to oppose a fiber network for Internet connectivity across the territory.

Investigations, for now, exclude coordinated action The Carabinieri have reportedly identified the alleged responsible party for the damage to the fiber optic cabinets in Fondi. The investigations, promptly initiated following complaints from residents about the severe disruptions experienced, led the military to scour the neighborhood in search of testimonies. During these interviews, an Italian citizen just over forty years old reportedly made statements similar to a confession, leading to his identification. The man now faces formal charges for aggravated damage and interruption of public service.

The investigative breakthrough thus seems to downplay the case: behind the raids on the phone booths, there does not appear to be an organized "NO FIBER" movement, but rather an isolated action lacking any scientific foundation by a single individual.
