A 1 Million Funding Round for Sintropy.AI, the Startup Aiming to Reduce Energy Consumption in Retail and Food Sectors

The startup Sintropy.AI has closed a seed round of 1 million euros led by Maia Ventures. The company has developed a solution based on IoT sensors and artificial intelligence aimed at reducing energy consumption in stores.

Reducing Retail and Food Consumption with AI

The target audience of Sintropy.AI is the food sector and, more generally, the chains of stores. The goal is to effectively and easily reduce the energy consumption of retail outlets and production facilities. Sintropy.AI's technology relies on a series of proprietary sensors that are installed on air conditioning systems and kitchen equipment to monitor the consumption of each device.

The data is then sent to a platform that, leveraging AI, identifies potential inefficiencies and adjusts the operation of the machinery to reduce energy waste, thus lowering the cost of the energy bill. This funding round will be used to further develop the AI underlying the platform and to expand the team from the current 12 people to about 20 by the end of 2026.

Among Sintropy.AI's clients are already important entities like Barilla, KFC, Yamamay, MISCUSI, and WAO, which have measured results indicating a reduction in consumption of between 15% and 20%.

"The world of energy saving today is a broken process: too many steps, too many actors, too much complexity. With us, you don't pay less for energy, you consume less: we arrive, install, and the system works by itself. We talk about a reduction in consumption between 15% and 20% on climate control and kitchen without them dedicating a single person to it. This round allows us to further accelerate the simplicity of adoption and the continuous optimization of our proprietary sensors and algorithms," explains Andrea Codini, CEO and co-founder of Sintropy.AI.

"Managing a network of restaurants means having hundreds of air conditioning and kitchen systems working for many hours every day. Energy efficiency is an increasingly central issue, but traditional solutions require time, resources, and significant investments before measurable results can be seen. With Sintropy, the installation was quick, and we began to see concrete results on consumption right away, without having to change the operational routines at the retail points," states Marco Spadoni of KFC Italy, one of the first companies to implement the solution.

"At Sintropy.AI, we found a very strong technical team, a product already validated by the market, and a value proposition with an impact that is directly measurable on the profit and loss account. Our investment will allow the company to scale its operations, bringing their value proposition into food retail (restaurants, canteens, large-scale distribution), retail, and agro-food production facilities. Energy efficiency with Sintropy.AI transforms from a complex project into an automated, scalable, and easy-to-adopt solution," affirms Andrea Galassi, Founding Partner of Maia Ventures.
